Q&A:

Where did you get the name ‘Lewis’?

My husband started calling me Lewis back when we were dating. A bunch of our friends adopted it too and soon enough I was responding to it. When I was ready to release music again, it just felt right.

Where are you from?

Frisco, TX but currently in Charlotte, NC

When did you start writing music?

I can remember being 6 years old, laying in front of the stereo with a notebook and pen, rewriting the lyrics to all the songs on the latest Britney Spears album. It’s always been a part of me. I started taking it seriously when I was 15. That’s when I taught myself guitar and started my first band called “Judge Karen”. Yes, it’s laughable.

Who is your writing and style mainly influenced by?

I’m Texan, so naturally, I was raised on country music. And being a 90’s baby, I couldn’t help but be surrounded by pop music. The general theme throughout my life has been whatever I am listening to, I am obsessing over. Dixie Chicks to Britney Spears to Taylor Swift to Paramore to Lana Del Rey to Julia Michaels.

Other than that, I’d say my writing is, and always has been, inspired by necessity. I needed a way to process everything that was going on in my life growing up, and writing music just happened to be the only way I knew how to process.

Any upcoming projects?

The acoustic version of my song “Handmedown Love” releases 9/27. Following that, “Coffee At Midnight (Acoustic)” is finally releasing to streaming platforms on 11/15.
